20 Severely Underrated 90s Video Games You Forgot You Loved

11. Jet Force Gemini

Another forgotten Rare relic, Jet Force Gemini was a platformy third-person shooter whose influences can be seen in hit PS2 series, Ratchet & Clank and Jak and Daxter. You control three members of the titular squad of heroes, blasting through hordes of insectoid aliens and solving puzzles in your bid to save the Ewok-alike Tribals. Each of the three playable characters has unique abilities, and each of them is required to solve the Gemini's array of puzzles. Upon its release, the game turned many people off due to its gruelling difficulty, but the Souls series has regenerated gamers' tastes for a bit of masochism, so maybe this is a better time than ever to revisit it. The bosses are some of the most spectacular and challenging set-piece battles you'll find from this era. The bright, garish and open worlds have that specifically 90s-style Rare charm, and the multiplayer modes - particularly the co-op - are worth experiencing even today. And that might not be so hard to do considering the game is included in the Rare Replay collection for the Xbox One - in glorious HD.
