20 Smartest Video Game Villains Who Deserved To Win

9. Bhaal - Baldur's Gate

Baldur's Gate Bhaal
BioWare

Because Baldur's Gate's overarching villain Bhaal foresaw his own death during the Time of Troubles, he decided to get incredibly busy impregnating scores of mortal women across the Forgotten Realms with his "divine essence," ensuring the births of innumerable heirs known as "Bhaalspawn."

Bhaal then planned for said Bhaalspawn to come into conflict with one another, killing each other off until only one remained, who would receive all the divine essence previously scattered among the other offspring.

Bhaal would then use the final remaining Bhaalspawn as the vessel for him to be resurrected as the all-strong God of Murder once again, letting him run riot with impunity.

The guy certainly gets an A+ for effort, malevolent creativity, and above all else being the only villain on this list to factor some nookie into his plan.

His only real misstep was failing to account for one of the Bhaalspawn being, well, you, the player.
