6. You Know No Pain Until You Accidentally Make A Shiny Pokémon Faint
I have to be honest, I had absolutely no idea that shiny variations of every Pokémon existed until the Red Gyarados encounter from in Gold & Silver. Up to that point I'd just never been lucky enough to come across one during my adventures.
But once you are aware of these rare little beauties roaming the wilds, you'll find yourself hoping that each new encounter may be the one to spring a shiny into your collection. The feeling when that 8192/1 chance does come true is indescribable, but it comes with a potential despair as well.
Encountering a wild Pokémon is great, but the battle that ensues is fraught with tension. You'll try everything in your power to weaken the beast just enough to capture it, but an unlucky few will get an unfortunate critical hit or an unseen weakness and push the thing too far.
These misfortunate souls deserve all of our care and sympathy; their disappointment is just too great.
