19 Things Video Game Fans Are SICK Of

16. Release Now, Patch Later

Speaking of terribly optimized video games, heeeeeeeere's Borderlands!

Cyberpunk 2077 may well be this generation's poster child for botched video game launches, but Borderlands 4 stuttered, glitched and crashed its way into contention with a honkingly bad PC launch that typified an unfortunate truth of modern gaming - it's the biggest fans who get the worst deal. They're the ones who buy games on day one, and end up spending the most money on the worst version of the game.

Thankfully, some game developers at least have the grace to recognize when they have erred. One of Cyberpunk's developers said that the game's astonishing redemption arc doesn't mean people should forgive and forget it's atrocious state at launch, and Gearbox Studio CEO Randy Pitchford personified dignity when he... said that the game only ran poorly because the people playing it were poor.

Huh.

At least that explains the state of Borderlands 4's patches, some of which made the game even worse. The developers likely facepalmed themselves into a collective concussion upon realizing the sheer scale of their boss' idiocy.
