20 Things You Didn't Know About Gears Of War
16. Dave Bautista Really Wants To Play Marcus Fenix
A Gears of War film has been teased ever since New Line Cinema announced it purchased film rights in 2007. Sporadic updates have hinted at what could be, from a story about Fenix's scar to a narrative completely separate from the video game franchise. One celebrity who's been extremely interested in the role of Marcus Fenix is former-WWE wrestler-cum-actor Dave Bautista.
Bautista feels like the perfect choice for the role, proving a worthy muscular foe as a Guardian of the Galaxy and Mr Hinx in Spectre. He's been more than vocal about wanting to be included in the film, yet has failed to get Hollywood to listen, tweeting that he's "tried everything."
Things aren't all bad for Bautista, however, as he became a playable character in the multiplayer for Gears 5. Even if he doesn't get a role in the film, which would be a colossal shame, at least he's safe in the knowledge that he, along with thousands of other players, are scratching out grubs in the online world.
