1. Robin Shou Helped Paul W.S. Anderson Create The Fight Scenes
Again, Mortal Kombat was Paul W.S. Anderson's first major movie and he came to the shoot with no prior action film experience whatsoever.
As a result, he began to shoot the first fight scene entirely in wide shots, before Robin Shou took Anderson aside and explained to him that, in most martial arts movies, wide shots are only used sporadically, with short close-ups used to capture most coverage.
Between this and Shou helping choreograph some of the movie's fight scenes, he was clearly a vital part of the production beyond his performance, and was instrumental in the fights turning out as entertaining as they did.
