If you've ever played Super Mario Sunshine, the first thing that probably pops up in your head when you hear the words “unlucky moment” is Pachinko.

The Pachinko Game is a hidden mini-level in Mario Sunshine accessible via a hole under the bridge between Delfino’s plaza cannon and the boathouse. As the name suggests, the level is designed to resemble a Pachinko machine, with Mario playing the part of the ball, jumping into a hole and getting catapulted inside the course to collect the red coins inside of it.

To imitate a Pachinko game, the level features unique physics to make Mario act more like a ball falling down a board of obstacles. However, the mechanic is incredibly buggy, and if you’re an especially unlucky player, its janky controls can potentially softlock you.

When falling down the Pachinko machine, when the player tries to ground pound to land into a specific hole, the force of the fake physics has a chance to bug the action, getting Mario stuck in an endless ground-pound loop.

The loop is completely random and can only be fixed by resetting the game, which is why most Super Mario Sunshine fans absolutely loathe the Pachinko game.
