20 Video Game Enemies Designed To RUIN Your Day
18. Belfly - Hollow Knight
Renowned for its sprawling landscapes, intricately designed bosses and controller-snapping difficulty, Hollow Knight is one of, if not, the best Metroidvania games around.
With well over a hundred enemies in the game, there's a lot for players to learn but the perhaps the quickest and harshest lesson that you'll learn on your first time venturing through Hollownest is that if you don't bait the Belfrys, you're going to have a bad time.
These nasty little bat-like creatures like to cling to ceilings, peering their little heads out to locate unsuspecting adventurers. Once you're within range, they'll let out a little scream and immediately dart towards you, exploding on impact and likely taking your life with them.
Mercifully, they're easy to dodge and they die on impact but their swift actions have seen many a new player become instantly enraged by such a sudden and brutal death. Their tendencies to lurk in tight spaces also ramps up the challenge as you'll find yourself having to rely on quick reflexes and expertly timed jumps to avoid certain death.
It is also possible to bait them and quickly get out of dodge but other lurking enemies may have something to say about that.
