20 Video Game Reveals That Shocked the World

2006's action-adventure game Ōkami is one of the most acclaimed video games of all time, but considering it was a commercial failure upon original release, enough that it contributed to the closure of Clover Studio, few were ever expecting Capcom to greenlight a sequel.

But at The Game Awards 2024, a visibly emotional Geoff Keighley introduced a Very Special Announcement, which saw an orchestra perform on stage while the existence of Ōkami 2 was confirmed.

Furthermore, it was also revealed that original game director Hideki Kamiya would be returning to helm the sequel with his new studio Clovers, in collaboration with Capcom.

This naturally led many to assume that the various re-issues of Ōkami over the years must've sold considerably better than the original release.

All the same, in the especially risk-averse climate of the modern games industry, a new Ōkami seemed like a total pipe dream. And yet, there it was - albeit in the earliest stages of development.
