20 Video Game Sequels NOBODY Defends

3. Umbrella Corps (2016)

Even at it's worst, the Resident Evil franchise is at least worth a glance. This absolutely beloved zombie series usually pulls out the stops and makes some good choices, even when it doesn't stick the landing. However, there's one game so bad it doesn't even include the franchise's name in the title (outside of Japan), which is a pretty clear sign of its quality. Say hello to Umbrella Corps.

This 2016 game was Capcom's attempt to delve into the lucrative market of online tactical shooters, using one of their most notable IPs to get a head start. Sadly, they fumbled it about as badly as Netflix fumbled the Resident Evil TV show.

Umbrella Corps was a messy and poorly constructed game that failed on every mechanical level. The shooting handled terribly, thanks to the clumsy controls and the poor hit detection. It also had a dreadful cover system, jarring movement, and a distinct lack of scares.

On top of being a bad game, it was also simply too far removed from the franchise's unique selling points, missing out on the thrilling story and atmosphere that have always been Resi's bread and butter.
