20 Video Game Sequels NOBODY Defends

14. Mortal Kombat: Special Forces (2000)

The Mortal Kombat franchise inherently invites debate. Which game is the best? Who has the coolest fatality? Who is better, Sub-Zero or Scorpion? The beauty of this gruesome fighting franchise is that everyone has different views on these questions. That said, one thing most fans can agree on is that Mortal Kombat: Special Forces is the absolute worst in the line-up.

Special Forces, which was released in 2000, moved away from the series' one-on-one fighting mechanics, instead offering up a 3D action adventure where you battle Kano and his gang as Jax. It's not a bad idea on paper, but in execution, this dish came out very underbaked.

What do you do in the game? Well, you walk around poorly designed levels, beating up enemies. That's pretty much it. It's broken, unpolished, and ultimately boring. Sadly, it's been well documented that this game suffered in development, especially after series co-creator John Tobias left the project. This goes a long way to explain why the game is so terrible, but it doesn't save it from being the worst MK game ever made.
