20 Video Game Side Quests That BROKE You
15. Mother's Day (Dying Light)
The free-running, zombie-bashing, action FPS Dying Light is a pretty great way to spend your time if you like fun gameplay and don't mind a middling story. However, while the overall campaign narrative isn't too much to cheer at, there's a lot of gold to be found in the game's side content. One such example is the very simple, yet emotionally profound, "Mother's Day."
This bizarre quest tasks you with locating a developmentally challenged man named Gazi, who used to live with his mother before her death two years prior. Your goal is to get some anti-seizure meds from him, but he insists that you bring gifts to give to his mother first, because "If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy." Naturally, given what you know, this request feels troubling, but hey, no skin off your back.
After retrieving a movie and some chocolates, you can let yourself into Gazi's place via the roof. Once inside, you'll discover that Gazi has set up a mannequin and written "World's Best Mom" on it. It's a very over-the-top moment, but the reality of this poor man's grief and delusion shows some heartbreaking depth in this post-apocalyptic hellscape.
