In Assassin's Creed II, Ezio must take on the mantle of his brethren and complete the mission initiated by his predecessor, Altair. On his journey to defeat the Templar, he's assisted by none other than Leonardo da Vinci.

Though renowned for his art, the Renaissance polymath was known for being an amateur inventor. Da Vinci also has an unbridled passion for justice, so he's more than eager to let Ezio use his flying contraption to infiltrate the villain's palace.

Even after da Vinci has fulfilled his duty in the main campaign, players are likely to return to him time and time again. The Italian artist uses his vast knowledge to translate Codex pages, uncovering swaths of lore. He provides Ezio with new weapons and gadgets while trading witty barbs with the assassin, reminiscent of the banter 007 and Q have in the James Bond movie franchise. His flying machine is extremely useful, since it helps Ezio find treasure maps and unlock new blueprints littered across the nation.

Honestly, if Leonardo da Vinci was any more helpful, he could've been the main character.
