20 Video Game Villains That SHOULDN'T Have Died

16. AZ - Pokémon Legends Z-A

Pokémon Legends Z-A climaxes with the affecting demise of the 3,000-year-old AZ, who was first introduced in Pokémon X and Y.

There's a lot to like about AZ's death conceptually - he gets to atone for his past and finally let go of the eternal life he's been cursed with, but it also feels like Game Freak could've done a whole lot more with him.

After all, AZ's story is covered in the earlier and closing stages of Pokémon Legends Z-A, but the middle doesn't have much for him at all.

Considering how desperately the game wants us all to be gibbering wrecks by the end when he pops off, a little more character development here would've gone a long way.

And of course, there are some fans who just feel that he didn't entirely redeem his troubled past, that he should've stuck around a tad longer to really hammer the drama of it all home.
