20 Video Game Villains You Couldn’t Wait To Kill

17. The Vizier - Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2003)

Considered by many to be the most iconic villain of the Prince of Persia series (and certainly the one the film chose), the Vizier is the whisperer of an Indian Maharajah who seeks to influence events from the shadows – kind of like a fantasy Dick Cheney.

Allying against his own people with the Persians, Vizier then double-double-crosses his new friends by tricking the titular Prince into releasing the Sands of Time and turning them into sand monsters under the Vizier’s rule. Thus the titular Prince’s arch-enemy is forged, and every subsequent misery is made by his hands, including his beloved Princess Farah’s death.

Unlike some of his gaming contemporaries, the Vizier is very much a comic book or pantomime villain in the mould of Disney’s Jafar. But that doesn’t mean his actions and words don’t land hard, and that we can’t wait to finally pull this weed when it comes to it.

Unfortunately this one doesn’t stay gone. Like a Fast and Furious cast member, the Vizier comes back time and time again in subsequent games, saved and resurrected in increasingly improbable ways, including becoming the self-fashioned god of time. Needless to say, this is one big boss we enjoy killing over and over again.
