1. The Joker - Batman Arkham Knight
Batman and the Joker are one of the most iconic nemeses in all of contemporary culture, and their portrayals in the Batman Arkham series are no different.
The Clown Prince of Crime has been an absolute menace and the thorn in the Bat’s side ever since the first Arkham Asylum game, where he was responsible for setting all of the ward’s insane patients free.
In Arkham City the Joker falls ill due to the serum he injects himself with in the first game, but his fatal condition doesn’t slow down his efforts to mess with Batman even in the slightest.
During the course of the game, he infects Batman with his own blood and then forces the Dark Knight to look for a cure. However, his plan ultimately fails as, spoiler alert, the Joker dies trying to snatch the cure from the Bat.
You’d think this would be the end of the clown’s long spree of making Batman miserable, but it’s actually far from it, as in Arkham Knight the Joker reappears as a figment of Batman’s imagination, tormenting him for his death and slowly making him go insane.
Even when he’s dead, the Joker gets the final laugh.
