Total War: Warhammer III takes place in the fantasy Warhammer universe during the invasion of Chaos Gods Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh, and Tzeentch.

In the campaign, you can play as any faction, backing up either the mortal forces of order or one of the encroaching demon armies.

However, no matter which side you support, the only winner of this conflict is always the chaos god of change, Tzeentch.

Although each of the factions in the game has their own ending related to finding the dying god, Ursun, each one leads to the same outcome of Tzeentch’s unknowing servants, the mysterious advisor who sends each faction searching for Ursun, taking some of his blood.

The advisor uses the blood to break the curse that Tzeentch has put on a book that will grant him incredible powers, and although he succeeds, the book’s power blinds him, and he unknowingly releases the demon Sarthoreal, who turns him into Tzeentch’s slave.

With this you learn that Warhammer III is actually a prequel to the first game in which the now enslaved advisor is used by Tzeentch to start a huge conflict between mortal factions to summon the Chaos Gods’ champion, Archaon.

The Advisor is then slain by Sarthoreal, because no matter who’s winning, it’s all just a part of Tzeentch’s plan.
