16. Pikmin 3
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxWIvaD2XQI One of Shigeru Miyamoto's lesser known, but no less-loved creations, the first two Pikmin titles were released in the early 2000's on the Nintendo GameCube, and gained a cult following for their unique blend of accessible strategy, unique environments and addictive gameplay (if you've never tried this series, be sure to check out the recent reissue of Pikmin 2 for the Nintendo Wii). The long awaited third entry to the series is slated to hit the Nintendo Wii U in early 2013. Why it will be awesome: Pikmin is a difficult game to explain to those who have never played them. They mix elements of adventure, real time strategy, action, and puzzle games into a cohesive blend that is unlike anything else out there. Yet despite this, Pikmin very much remains a product of the mind of Miyamoto, arguably the greatest game designer in the industry. The Wii U should be a perfect home for the next Pikmin game. Navigating the dense interfaces of previous Pikmin games has meant lots of time spent in menu screens, and there is no doubt that the creative minds at Nintendo will utilize the Wii U's dual screens to streamline these processes and make Pikmin 3 even more approachable and playable. Also, early screenshots indicate that Pikmin 3 is also going to be one of the best looking games on Nintendo's new console, with some of the most impressive lighting and environmental effects to be seen on any console game thus far. Undoubtedly one of the can't miss titles in the Wii U launch window, Pikmin 3 could end up being the best of the bunch.
