9. Ada - Resident Evil: Village
Based on Resident Evil Village concept art and the official art book, it's clear Ada Wong was suppose to serve as a mysterious helper to Ethan Winters, similar to how she rescued Leon in Resident Evil 2.
Now, this shouldn't be that much of a shock since the femme fatale shows up unannounced at random intervals throughout the series.
But this would've been a very different version of the character. Rather than being adorned with her traditional scarlet dress, Ada would've worn a plague doctor outfit, including a bird-like mask, in order to blend in with the gothic setting. Her mission was to investigate the village independently, perhaps implying she was working for her usual shadowy employers (or possibly herself).
It's hard to say how far along this idea got and may have simply been a concept rather than something that wound up in the scripting stage of the game, but it's likely that we'll never know.
Although it would've been nice to see Ada return, the unlockable concept art in Village does at least say that Capcom believed her subplot complicated the main narrative. RE8 already had multiple overlapping plot lines, so throwing in another could've disrupted the pacing.
