6. Alexios/Kassandra (Assassin's Creed Odyssey)

Assassin's Creed Odyssey marks the first time that the series has allowed players to choose the gender of their protagonist, and aside from a vocal rabble of shameless sexists complaining about the game being "SJW-bait", the move was embraced by most fans with open arms.

Though it was recently revealed that roughly two-thirds of players ended up picking Alexios over his female sibling Kassandra, the general consensus among those who've tried both seems to side with Kassandra.

The most obvious advantage to Kassandra is that Melissanthi Mahut's performance is simply that much more evocative than Michael Antonakos', who voices Alexios.

Mahut makes Kassandra an hilarious, towering bada**, and the awesome facial animations make her feel more like an actual human being than any previous Assassin's Creed protagonist.

If you just tend to pick male protagonists by default, you'd be a fool not to at least give Kassandra a try. Either way, the player character controls with more slick fluidity than ever before, even if Kassandra proves especially charming.
