21 Gaming Memories Only 90s Kids Will Have

2. The Unholy Mess That Is The Mario Bros. Movie

No, this is not a game. It is a nightmare.

You do not know a childhood of pain until you have seen the Mario Bros. Movie rendition of Yoshi, because somewhere along the line, the creators decided to make Yoshi literally a tiny dinosaur, slimy scales and sharp teeth and all. Everything in the film went for a gritty, realistic look, and it boggles the mind that people would want to take the fantastical, colourful and whimsical world of the Mushroom Kingdom and turn it into this dull monstrosity.

At the very least, we could take solace in the superb animated Mario series and forever be on the fence about whether the Mario Rap is the best thing ever or the worst thing ever.

1. Your First Trek Across Hyrule Field In Ocarina Of Time

Ocarina of Time was and continues to be one of the finest examples of console gaming. It presented to us a beautiful and seemingly gigantic world filled with great characters and grand locations. One of the moments which solidified this as a true classic for many was the first time you set foot on Hyrule Field and that grand score started up.

The castle was there in the distance as well as mountains and rivers and desert sands to run off and explore. It was a breath-taking sight. Having just escaped from a conversation with the infamous owl that delivers painfully long disposition dialogue, it was a pretty liberating experience too.
