21 Gaming Memories Only 90s Kids Will Have

12. The Terrifying Drowning Music In Sonic The Hedgehog Games

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Yw5jkAHgME Water is scary enough as it is. There are sharks in some waters and always the possibility of being dragged to the ocean floor by a giant squid. One thing you seldom expect to find in a pool of the wet stuff, however, is a drowning Hedgehog. But in the original Sonic the Hedgehog games, we saw a blue hedgehog drowning over and over again. That wasn€™t the worst part of the water levels though. The worst part was the music. It cut straight through the otherwise upbeat and funky soundtrack and delivered the most horrific death toll ever conceived by man or beast, with a horrific, shrill tune bleating straight into our souls and letting us know: Sonic is going to die. Oh, the€Hedgehogmanity.

11. The Glorious Crash Bandicoot Victory Dance

Nothing quite says €œvictory!€ like a sassy bandicoot doing pelvic thrusts in your face. This is a fact which would not have been the case were it not for the Crash Bandicoot games, whose reward for making it through each surprisingly difficult level was one of the finest animations ever created in video games.

Even if you never played the Crash games, that GIF has made the round many times on the internet, especially back in the day. It€™s surprising to think that Naughty Dog, the creators of this fine platforming series, went on to make the likes of Uncharted and the recent super-success The Last of Us. It€™s just a shame those more recent works are missing these kinds of sick moves.

A young man with a hairy face. Will often tell you that winter is coming before retreating to his mancave to play video games with a wooly jumper at the ready, just in case.
