24 Greatest Video Game Moments Of The 2000s

24. Discovering The Hidden Batcave - Batman: Arkham Asylum

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4vbGfmBVjk Arkham Asylum did a great many things better than the rest, coming at the perfect time following the first two Nolan movies and helping to launch nobodies Rocksteady into the limelight, essentially overnight. From some perfected third-person combat that's now seen everywhere from Shadow of Mordor to Sleeping Dogs, a graphical knockout that helped bring the untapped potential of Arkham to life in a million ways and a team of fans writing one of the most satisfying story arcs in recent memory - it's hard picking just one standout scene. However, in a spot of genius there comes a point where Batman's finding his journey across Arkham a bit overwhelming, mentioning that he needs to "Return to the Batcave" - making both his support team and you, the gamer, questioning how that's going to happen. It's then that the score ramps up, he dives off the edge of the island and the most unexpected thing happens; he strolls into another Batcave directly underneath Arkham itself. Thanks to the medium of gaming and how the reveal's handled, it genuinely feels like Batman got the drop on everyone watching him - and then you get to resume control. Just spectacular.
