25 Best Sega Games Of All Time - RANKED

20. Rez

Yakuza game
SEGA

Although perhaps one of the weirdest games ever to come out of Sega - if you don't count Seaman, that is - Rez is more than worthy of the awards and strong critical reception it received upon launch.

Unfortunately, Rez didn't sell half as near as well as it was originally hoped; since its original release for the Dreamcast/PS2 in 2001, it's been re-released a few more times, and sales have grown over the years too.

In Rez, you're a hacker infiltrating a mysterious, dodgy AI. The bulk of the gameplay is a rail shooter, but it combines this together with music to create what is truly an unforgettable experience. As you progress through levels, defeating enemies, this adds additional musical layers to the track, creating a pulse-pounding, action-packed shooting game.

When it all marries together into one glorious whole, Rez is truly something special. It's a shame this one may have passed a lot of people by due to its low sales.

If you truly want to experience Rez in all its glory, play the Virtual Reality version, ideally with headphones. You'll be absolutely blown away with how cool it is.
