20. Marcus Fenix (Gears Of War)

Video games have no shortage of bulky space marines, but Marcus Fenix is most certainly one of the most defining. Despite a rough and gruff exterior, he exhibits a cynical and stoic determination and a sincere loyalty to his comrades in arms.

These defining characteristics gave him and Delta squad the ability to single-handedly turn the tide of the war with the Locust horde multiple times, and ultimately win the war. Marcus of course didn't do it alone, but his leadership skills played a major part in pushing the group forward during their darkest hours.

Marcus also isn't hesitant to call out the higher up officials when he thinks they are wrong, and will even go out of his way to disobey orders, which he did to save his father. And yet, despite this drama, when duty called he didn't hesitate to jump back into the frey with that iconic Lancer Assault Rifle.
