Netflix had an incredible 2017, releasing more than 50 movies under their Netflix Originals banner alone, and that number's only set to increase in 2018.

The streaming giant will see itself pairing with numerous acclaimed filmmakers for exciting new projects, and these are just a few of the most intriguing movies due to hit the platform this year.

First up is Mute, the new sci-fi thriller from Moon's Duncan Jones due out next month; Hell or High Water director David Mackenzie is working on Outlaw King, a $120 million Robert the Bruce biopic starring Chris Pine; The Raid director Gareth Evans' period thriller Apostle; Blue Ruin and Green Room director's new thriller Hold the Dark; and the completed version of Orson Welles' 1970s film The Other Side of the Wind.

No doubt many more in-the-works projects will get surprise 2018 releases, but for now, these are the high-profile movies you can 100% expect to see this year.
