This is a common practice in the technological industry. Companies need to make money and making new products constantly is expensive and risky. So, if it ain't broke, say it's obsolete, change how it looks, and sell it again. Yes, that line is from Tobuscus. Seriously though, it is common for companies to put out different models of their product that is supposedly better. It might be a new feature, more storage space, or simply cosmetics. Just look at Nintendo's DS line. There was the DS, the Lite, the DSi, the DSi XL, and now the 3DS. Now whether you think these changes are worthy of a completely new product doesn't matter for the simple fact someone wanted a larger screen and someone wanted a sleeker console. People have different tastes and there could be an upcoming model that is perfect for you. These models can also offer a better deal than the launch model. As a matter of fact, that's usually their selling point. It's just another practice found in the industry. It is highly likely there will be a bundle including the console with ALL of its accessories, or a bundle with two games, etc.. Not to mention models that offer more initial storage space, which will be crucial when these massive games come out. Someone who don't plan on being online and connected to the Cloud should wait for this model.
