6. Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (Dec 18)
There's arguably no upcoming movie more anticipated than Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, a continuation of the story apparently concluded in 1983's Return of the Jedi, seeing franchise leads Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford returning to portray their beloved characters Leia, Luke and Han for another trilogy of movies. They're joined by a group of young up-and-coming actors, namely John Boyega as Finn, Daisy Ridley as Rey and Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, while non-specific roles are being filled by Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie and Warwick Davis. Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker will also be returning as C-3PO, Chewbacca and R2-D2 respectively. The first teaser trailer released a few weeks ago practically broke the Internet and gave fans their first glimpse at how J.J. Abrams is interpreting the franchise from a visual perspective. Needless to say, it looks magnificent, and if there's a strong story to match, this could easily be one of the greatest Star Wars movies to date.
