30 Classic SNES Games You Must Play Before You Die
28. Super Mario Kart
Golfer, painter, tennis pro... Nowadays, Mario's non-plumbing exploits have been widely explored by video games. It all begins with Super Mario Kart though - the first title to really expand the Super Mario series into non-platforming games.
A local multiplayer legend, Super Mario Kart sees players pick their favourite character from the series and race them around a series of colourful tracks. It's surprisingly competitive, thanks to the item system which gives players the means to boost their speed or hinder their opponents.
With a variety of iconic tracks (Rainbow Road, anyone?), Super Mario Kart will always be a classic racer.
