5 Geek Franchises We'd Like To See As Lego Games

1. Lego Doctor Who

legowho Working out how to do this one would be a nightmare for Lego and Travellers Tales but God it would be amazing. There is no other series that is so expansive in story, characters, and environments which is what makes Doctor Who the perfect thing to adapt into a Lego game. Things that spring to mind are basing the game on the current Doctor€™s episodes with one level per episode, the game€™s hub being the Tardis (with older consoles rooms being accessible as the game goes on), and featuring character abilities such as the Doctor being able to unlock doors and access computers like the Droid characters in Lego Star Wars, Daleks being able to hover like R2-D2, and Cybermen and Sontarans having Super-strength (an ability that several villains in Lego Batman have). Also, a must would be having all of the previous Doctors as playable characters. Because of the Doctor€™s pacifism, the game wouldn€™t be as combat-focussed as other Lego games but that would just open the doors for a more strategy and puzzle-based game instead of it being crammed full of combat sequences. However, there would still be a fair bit of action potential, particularly if the enemies in one particular level are robots which would render the Doctor€™s pacifism a moot point and allow for as much fighting as the developers want. But the real strength of a Lego Doctor Who game is just the sheer size it could be thanks to the programme€™s fifty year history providing an immense amount of material to draw inspiration from. Why It Won€™t Happen Character Building currently holds all the rights to Doctor Who construction toys which means that this one wouldn€™t get off the ground without Lego and Traveller Tales having to work through a ridiculous amount of licensing deals first. Additionally, its marketing appeal abroad would quite possibly struggle to get above cult status. What would you like to see a Lego game of? Leave a comment...
