2. Lego Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic

I touched upon the idea of this in a
Den of Geek article about a year and a half ago and I still maintain that its a brilliant idea for a game. For those unfamiliar with Knights Of The Old Republic, its a Star Wars RPG set 4000 years before the Original Trilogy that lets you create your own character and roam the galaxy either helping those in need as a noble Jedi or causing chaos and misery as a Sith. The past few years have shown that Lego and Star Wars is a combination that can almost never fail. And Knights Of The Old Republic and its sequel are some of the most highly regarded Star Wars games that Lucasarts has produced. On top that, the large number of playable characters and three character party system of Knights Of The Old Republic means that it would always be easy to have multiple playable characters in one level, and the huge amount of scale that KOTOR has would allow (if not necessitate) the story being told in more than six levels. Although there is a huge basis on choice and alternate stories in KOTOR, both games have a canon storyline that is used for other media to follow, which would allow a Lego adaptation to have a linear story. Though it would be cool have the Dark Side alternate endings as bonus levels. All the pieces are in place for this one to happen as pretty much all of the required game mechanics will have been developed for the previous Lego games. All that would be needed are few tweaks to the game engine, and new character skins and environments. Then Lucasarts and Travellers Tales could get the ball rolling.
Why It Wont Happen The heyday Knights Of The Old Republic has long since passed, decreasing its potential mass market appeal. Also, if Travellers Tales are working on any Lego Star Wars projects at the moment, it will most probably be a sequel to Lego Star Wars The Clone Wars followed by a third Lego Clone Wars game in a few years time.
