2. Wakka - Final Fantasy X
For a game released in 2001 Final Fantasy X had
visuals that were far ahead of their time. The
music wasn't bad either. The characters were fantastic too. The most memorable by far is Wakka. Wakka, Voiced by John DiMaggio in English (Bender from Futurama), is one of the first main characters that the player meets. He is a professional blitzball player. Blitzball being a futuristic version of waterpolo but with more contact and less breathing. What made Wakka stand out was
his accent, sounding like a French-Canadian-Australian all the while looking like a futuristic jock from the south pacific. I don't know what DiMaggio was thinking when he tried that accent, but it is perfect. Even if Wakka couldn't be revived, then we can only hope Di Maggio will delve into the gaming world a little bit more often.
