3. John Marston - Red Dead Redemption
The good mannered gun slinger from Red Dead Redemption, John Marston is one of the coolest characters Rockstar ever put into a game. A former outlaw, Marston is on the straight and narrow trying to right the wrongs of his past, even if he is being coerced by the government. A corrupt government who kidnapped his wife and son, willing to release them only after Marston hunts down the remaining members of his old gang. What makes marston so memorable was not only his southern charm and bloodlust, but the way in which he left the earth. That's right. Our dear friend john gets
gunned down in a hail of bullets just as he had settled back down with his recently freed wife and son. Sad though it is, every cloud has a silver lining. After John's death the player lives on through his son Jack, who gets an opportunity to exact his revenge on the agent who betrayed his father. Although Marston is technically dead, he could be revived through a prequal to the original game, perhaps telling the story of when he rode around with his gang, terrorising the old west.
