5 Truly Insane Video Game Theories (That Are Clearly True)

1. Far Cry 3 - Hoyt Always Knew 'Foster' Was Jason

Far Cry 3 is a game rife with plot-related gaps in its timeline, and consequentially, questions of what exactly was fact, and what was fiction. As such, the game has spawned a host of theories and ideas regarding the more sketchy parts of FC3’s story.

A notable one of which revolves around primary antagonist Hoyt Volker being able to see through Jason’s disguise as the privateer ‘Foster’ during the game’s climax. After one of the most tense poker games in gaming history, Hoyt reveals he has known ‘Foster’ was the infamous escaped prisoner Jason Brody this entire time. It was certainly a shocking moment, but the question remains; ‘How could Hoyt possibly know Jason’s identity?’ Was it a slip of Jason’s poker face? Were Hoyt and the real Foster close? Is Hoyt a telepath!? Well, No. The real answer is far simpler.

If you recall the opening of FC3, you’d remember an off-screen voice telling the (criminally underused) secondary villain Vaas to stop harassing the hostages, Jason and Grant. That voice was none other than Hoyt Volker, who had therefore personally supervised Jason’s imprisonment from the very start of the game.
