6 Most Unlikely Guest Characters In Fighting Games

2. Ezio Auditore Da Firenze (Soulcalibur V)

Ezio Soul Calibur
Namco Bandai

At first, Ezio might not seem too strange a choice for the Soulcalibur series. They’ve featured characters from a large plethora of franchises over the years, such as Link appearing all the way back in Soulcalibur II and Kratos popping up in Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny. However, most of the guest spots feature characters that have some kind of console-exclusive basis, or alternatively (in the case of Yoda and Darth Vader) two characters from the same franchise on separate consoles.

Honestly, it's only weird because Ubisoft are one of Namco Bandai’s competitors, so it’s a little more complicated figuring out how exactly such a collaboration came about in the first place. The most likely explanation is Ubisoft and Namco Bandai began talks when Ubisoft acquired the rights to publish both Soulcalibur IV and Soulcalibur Legends in Europe.

In some ways however, Ezio is a fitting choice for the series. After all, Soulcalibur V is set in the 16th century – that same time period that Ezio stabbed several hundred people to death in. There’s even a canon explanation for his inclusion in the Assassin’s Creed series, chronicling his disappearance from the AC timeline following the discovery of a “strange artefact” in 1506.
