Considering how so much of No Man's Sky is about not holding the player's hand and taking a more minimalist approach to traditional video game mechanics, the decision to flash "milestone" achievements up at the player every so often feels pretty jarring.
These notifications appear in bombastic fashion to let you know how far you've traveled, how much money you've accrued, how much alien language you've learned and so on, but they also take over the screen for about 20 seconds and may prevent you from carrying out actions such as getting in your ship.
It just feels so needlessly intrusive, and if Hello could patch in a way to turn these notifications off in the menu, that'd be awesome. It's not like they're particularly interesting or fun after the first few times.
