7 Dead Video Game Franchises That Need A God Of War-Style Reboots
2. Dead Space
EA's flagship horror franchise Dead Space has been left out in the cold ever since the release of its third entry. The game was far too action heavy to really bring on the scares, and overall, was just a bit of bore. Yet, regardless of its flaws, the story of Dead Space is actually one that the fanbase has grown to love, and EA would be foolish not to capitalise on it in a similar way to how Sony Santa Monica did in God Of War.
Isaac Clarke's status as a mentally unhinged survivor would make for a superb character-driven narrative, finding focus in how the space engineer's traumatic experiences have driven him mad and how he's fighting a losing battle on two fronts - one against the terrifying alien zombies and the other within his own head. Throw in a contained open-world akin to that of God Of War, and you could have a survival horror experience that ditches the all-out action for a wealth of cinematic storytelling and creepy scares.
Much like God Of War, it's clear that refining Dead Space's experience is the key to revitalising what made the franchise such a smash hit upon release, and a tighter focus on Clarke as a character is easily the key to success.
