7 Dead Video Game Franchises That Need A God Of War-Style Reboots
1. Legacy Of Kain
If there's any game that really pioneered the style of the original God Of War, it was Legacy Of Kain. The franchise combined fast-paced combat with environmental puzzles and platforming sections whilst detailing a morbid fantasy world, but did so five years before God Of War released on consoles. So, what's to say Legacy Of Kain can't learn from the franchise it inspired?
Not only would God Of War's attention to detail with its lore and story greatly fit the epic setting of Legacy Of Kain, but a revamp to the combat would perfectly build on the brutal fighting style established in the original titles. The franchise could also use the kind of grand story shift that God Of War decided upon making, expanding the narrative to a whole different realm full of new characters and emerging storylines outside of Nosgoth.
If it were to include the kind of open-world exploration that God Of War implemented, Legacy Of Kain would quickly grow from a revamp of a forgotten franchise to one of the cornerstones of modern gaming. It already has a host of die-hard fans, and whilst most of its systems would need the kind of reinvention that Sony Santa Monica gave God Of War, it easily has the potential to be a fantasy masterpiece.
