Play instead of: Diablo III

As fun as Diablo III was, it lacked the in-depth customisation and skill tree of its predecessors. Where it fell short, Path Of Exile has picked up the slack.

Set in the fantasy continent of Wraeclast, the player takes on the role of the Exile, banished to this prison-continent for their misdeeds. The Exile must survive huge open battlegrounds and dark, claustrophobic dungeons to survive, grow stronger, and uncover the secrets of the old civilisations that inhabited the continent.

With huge influences from Diablo II, Path of Exile has a fully realised story, strong focus on teaming up with other players, and exercises procedurally generated worlds to explore, keeping gameplay fresh and mysterious. Whilst the Exile starts out as one of six classes (Duelist, Marauder, Ranger, Shadow, Templar, or Witch), the skill tree is so massive and levelling system so intricate and delicate, that the player can develop virtually any type of hero that they want.

Path Of Exile is a hark back to the glory days of isometric action RPGs, focusing on precision gameplay, tactical battles, and complex plot; and it's absolutely free.
