7 Video Game Franchises That You Didn’t Know Are Spin-Offs
1. The Puyo Puyo Series Is A Madō Monogatari Spin-Off
The Madō Monogatari franchise has been forgotten by time. The franchise has barely left Japan and whenever it has it's been named something different such as with the latest entry in the series, Sei Madō Monogatari, being released all the way back in 2013 as "Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God" over here.
The Madō Monogatari series are a bunch of dungeon crawling games. The original game Madō Monogatari 123 was released for the MSX back in 1990 and the series has had quite a few games since then, just none of them have hit the mainstream.
Whilst these games have mostly been forgotten, there are some die-hard fans out there who probably hate that the series was spun off into the puzzle game Puyo Puyo, which is now the closest thing they're getting to more Madō Monogatari content.
The characters from Madō Monogatari were all used in the Puyo Puyo series, a great puzzle gaming franchise that is currently most recognised as that franchise that crossed over with Tetris to create the best puzzle game ever Puyo Puyo Tetris 2.
In fact, I can guarantee that if a new Madō Monogatari game came out, people would consider it a Puyo Puyo spin-off.
