1. Kazuya Mishima - Tekken Franchise

While it might be hard to look at the seething mass of muscle, devil horns, and laser eyes that is Kazuya from the Tekken franchise and say "yup looks like a hero to me!" This was indeed the case at one point in time.

Now to be fair the original Kazuya that debuted in the original Tekken was far less Devil-y than in his later portrayals which did help the whole hero vibe a lot, and was actually touted as the games main antagonist, a righteous warrior looking to destabilise the vice-like grip that his father Heihachi had on the world, oh and to take revenge for the fact that his dad dropped him into a volcano when he was just five years old (probably should have led with that bit).

Still, this quest for vengeance was nowhere near as exciting as one might expect from a story containing fiery volcanos, and so in the sequel, it was revealed that Kazuya was an even bigger s**t than his pops and was now rocking the aforementioned spiky devil bits as well as a kick-ass fighting style.

From here the conflict between the Mishima's which also came to draw in Kazuya's own son Jin catapulted the series into the mainstream, with each mainline entry upping the ante to the point where its sheer ridiculous melodrama became like a soap opera, but here instead of throwing drinks at one another, they were chucking some serious weight behind those fists.
