While the majority of people buy Call of Duty games for their multiplayer offerings, there are still millions of players who enjoy the stories found in each annual release.

In 2011 though, that enjoyment took a major hit - at least, if you were unfortunate enough to have the game spoiled for you, which was entirely possible due to a major asset leak.

For this one, we turn to Kotaku once more, with the site revealing a ton of details about Modern Warfare 3 half a year before it was set to debut.

And when we say a ton, we really do mean a ton. Not only did they share information about the multiplayer, but they had a breakdown of the singleplayer story, details about locations, vehicles, and playable characters, and even some artwork.

It was truly insane that a game this huge suffered a leak this big, because it meant that, basically, the entire campaign was available online for folks to read about, months before the official launch of the title.

Still, Activision probably wasn't too upset about this; Modern Warfare 3 was the best-selling game of 2011. It's easy to wipe away tears when you have a few great big wads of cash lying around.
