7 Video Games You Have To Play Twice To Understand
1. Hades
The internet explosion of love and thirst for this Hades is not without warrant, as this is another glorious title from the masterminds at Supergiant Games, who previously brought us the likes of Bastion, Transistor, and the almighty Pyre.
Yet at the beginning of the game, the narrative is, murky to say the least. Why are we trying to escape Hell? Why are the Gods Of Olympus helping us? Who is our true birth mother and why isn't she here with us? Well to answer all of these and to get one of the most satisfying endings in recent memory, you better get to mastering your skills as you'll need to complete the game TEN TIMES in order to get true closure on this narrative.
The deal is that Zagreus is looking to escape Hell in order to find his true birth mother, yet upon completing the title and defeating Hades, you learn that you can only exist in her realm for a short period of time, and so you agree that you will keep escaping Hell in order to spend time with her and learn more about why she left.
With each run, you chip away at the mystery, and with each question answered you are spurned on to learn more. It's one of the best gameplay loops going, and even once you've resolved the main narrative, you'll still want to complete runs just because it's THAT GOOD.
