8 Anticipated Video Games You Can FINALLY Play In 2019

6. Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night

When the father of the Metroidvania genre of hack n' slash adventures, Koji Igarashi, launched his Kickstarter for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night way back in 2015 to massive success, the future of the genre looked bright: Castlevania, even if not in name, was coming back to gaming in a big way.

Since then, gamers have been (im)patiently awaiting any shred of news on the game. Promisingly, Kickstarter updates have been frequent and detailed, proving that "Iga" is just ensuring a quality game that needs as much time as possible. With gameplay as precise as what we'd expect in a Castlevania spiritual successor, it's not worrying that we're having to wait a little while to sink our teeth into Bloodstained.

The long gestation period has led to unfortunate changes such as a brand-new Kickstater update announcing the cancellation of Mac and Linux ports of the game to allow for streamlined development as devs are 'checking the performance of Bloodstained on each platform'.

However, this update indicates that Inti Creates, with the help of Shantae developers WayForward, that we're hopefully looking at a 2019 release date. Will Bloodstained be this generation's Symphony of the Night? Hopefully we'll get to find out soon.
