8 Anticipated Video Games You Can FINALLY Play In 2019
5. Final Fantasy VII Remake
Final Fantasy VII. Remade. In all the graphical fidelity that modern gaming allows. As that infamous oversized Buster Sword swung into frame, gamers across the world reacted in uniform excitement.
It's now about to be 2019, and we've heard next to nothing about the revamped JRPG legend. Concerns about the state of the product were put to rest this year after returning original character designer Tetsuya Nomura stated that the product remained in active development, so we'll probably be waiting till after the release of Kingdom Hearts III before we hear any major updates from Square Enix.
Rather than a simple remaster, this is a full blown remake to blast the completely unabridged narrative excellence of Final Fantasy 7 firmly into the 21st Century, so it's going to take some time to remake FF7 from the ground-up with entirely new battle systems, environments, assets and enemies. Sure, the planned episodic release schedule was disappointing news, but if that enables the long sought-after remake of Final Fantasy 7 to come out, any release plans whatsoever are incredible.
Let's just hope a release date comes sooner rather than later.
