8 Anticipated Video Games You Can FINALLY Play In 2019
4. Shenmue 3
The grandfather of all long-awaited sequels, Shenmue III was announced to huge uproar when Ys Net revealed their kickstarter for development funds a couple years back. Unfortunately, that initial tease has been followed up by scant but regular updates by the developers and continued delays to that ever-distant release date.
The latest "Prophecy" trailer shows us common plot elements like the Phoenix and Dragon mirrors, so it's at least promising to see we're due some continuation of a narrative that's been otherwise unresolved for so long now. However, with so many delay announcements, its starting to look like Yu Suzuki and his team might well have taken on too much, and that we may never actually help Ryo find his father's killer and the get the justice he wants.
It's possible that a recent lack of info surrounding the game may well be due to the less than stellar reception of the Shenmue I and II remasters that were released earlier in the year. Nevertheless, the current (at time of writing) end of August 2019 release date is beginning to creep up. After an 18 year wait, will we finally see the next chapter in the Shenmue saga released in 2019?
