8 Biggest Unsung Heroes Working In The Video Game Industry

1. Steve Blum - One Of The Most Recognisable Voices In The Industry

Do you ever hear a voice in a video game and go, "Sh*t, where have I heard this before?" Well Steven Blum pretty much embodies that position in your mind, having voiced dozens of characters over the decade. He's to Wolverine what Kevin Conroy is to Batman, but his roles have gone far beyond just the cigar-chomping adamantium-clad mutant.

Because, (and I use this in the most accurate of terms) Steve Blum has literally been in everything. No, seriously, check out his filmography for yourself. If he's not Killer Croc in Arkham Asylum he's Ares in God of War, but honestly, there's barely a game he hasn't been in.

Having taken on roles both large and minor, Blum rather neatly encapsulates the diverse nature of voice acting in the gaming medium. He's got a brilliantly gruff voice though - one that pretty much every gamer should be able to recognise if they listen for it.

Of course, Blum is but one of the countless video game voice actors that don't happen to be Nolan North or Troy Baker. Roger Craig Smith, Michael Ironside, Dee Bradley Baker, Keith David and Grey DeLisle are just some of the many talents that have provided wonderful voices for games old and new. These performances are all wonderful in their own right, and their countless more actors out there that you really should check out if you get the chance.

If you fancy a more in depth look at the voice acting industry, definitely give 'I Know That Voice' a watch. It chronicles everything from the early days of animation to gaming and beyond; plus it lets you finally put a name to a face... to a voice, which is pretty fantastic itself.
