8 Early Video Game Bosses That Kicked Your Ass
2. Genichiro - Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Nothing pisses me off more than a sore loser.
We all have to swallow the bitter pill of defeat from time to time, but raging against a loss in a game is often nothing more than a waste of your own energy. Therefore can you imagine the utter venom I began spitting at the screen when, after a tough battle with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice I was handed a loss, despite winning!
Genichiro Ashina, the bastards name is plastered all over FromSoft's outstanding swords and samurais classic. As the main antagonist of the title we see this moody muppet attempt to claim untold power to rule the world only to fall prey to his own desperation time and time again.
When the title present him as the first boss, players are right to grip their controller with sweaty hands, as up until this point, there's been little in the way of actually testing the player, and after only a few moves you can tell you're dealing with a different beast.
It's very common to fall foul of his attacks seeing as they can smash through your defences like they were but paper. However what makes all of this worse, is that if you beat the bastard, then thanks to an offscreen ally, Genichiro still claims your arm (and by extention the victory) in a cutscene!
No extra goodies, no acheivement, just FromSoft once again treating your face like a doormat for their bs-covered boots.
