8 Great Video Games Remembered For ONE Thing

4. The Botched Ending - Mass Effect 3

Time to rustle some feathers, because while some still don't want to admit it 13 years later, Mass Effect 3 is actually a terrific game for the most part.

The refined combat, character depth, superb voice acting, killer musical score, and overall engrossing atmosphere make it a riveting, immersive spectacle, even if it wasn't as fully satisfying a package as Mass Effect 2.

And this is in large part because of the one thing that's brought up in record time whenever someone starts discussing Mass Effect 3 online - that damn, dirty ending.

And to be fair, the threequel's lousy pick-a-colour ending is hugely underwhelming, betraying BioWare's promise that the trilogy would climax in a way which substantially paid off the choices players had made across the three games.

The backlash was overwhelming at the time of the game's release, enough that it even has its own Wikipedia page, which really says it all.

Even in 2025, there's still a simmering sentiment of anger surrounding Mass Effect 3, even though there's so, so much greatness in the game leading up to that admittedly lackluster finale.
