4. XCOM 2 - War Of The Chosen
Oh, XCOM, why do you hate me so when all I do is show you love? I'll never truly understand what it is about this series of games that repeatedly smashes me in the face with a brick and I still end up thanking it for doing so, but goddam am I hooked.
The challenge that these titles provide are almost at levels of parody, with each subsequent release adding in yet more enemies that can obliterate your team and new hazards to weaken your already paper-thin squad, and at the top of the pile of pain is War Of The Chosen for XCOM 2.
The rebooted sequel already added in difficulty spikes you could impale yourself on in the form of time restrictions and enemies that were much, much better equipped than you, but War Of The Chosen added in three new Ultra Bosses which kicked your ass so hard you could taste toilet paper.
With a new mission revolving around diffusing their nefarious actions, while still keeping the world away from the brink, this expansion was a heart attack that you willingly paid for. I can't express how perfectly this encapsulates the series, and those that have played it will already know I speak the truth. This is the Chosen One when it comes to DLC.
